Where Xylitol leads
Xylitol is a sugar alcohol almost exactly as sweet as sugar, gram for gram, but with far fewer calories. It starves the bacteria that cause tooth decay, which is why it turns up in gum and toothpaste. It is also highly toxic to dogs.
